The Queensland Digital Licence app was launched to the public at the end of 2023 after two pilots on the Fraser Coast and in Townsville. Since launch the app has continued the development of new features and functions. The app is currently the most used app across the Queensland Government.

Background
The Queensland Digital Licence app allows customers to carry their licence with them on their mobile phone. The digital licence app has the same legal standing as the physical card and allows customers to securely digitally verify themselves against the international standard for Mobile Driving Licences.
Process
Following the Queensland Government's triple diamond Human Centred Design framework the app has gone though many rounds of customer research, testing and design refinement to increate usability and develop additional functions to further secure the app and build trust with customers.
Outcome / result
Winner of Government app of the year and "overall app of the year" at the Australian Access Awards 2025.
Most used Government app in Queensland.
